A board with sixty-four squares of alternate color, used for playing checkers, chess, or draughts.

The 8x8 or 10x10 board on which checkers is traditionally played. A traditional checkerboard has either 64 or 100 squares, depending on the variation, with alternating dark- and light-colored squares. In actual play, the pieces are placed on the darker squares, but checkers diagrams usually have the pieces on the lighter squares, for readability.
