Folder/Page/element is saved and changes made when last checked out; available for previewing but not editing

An action in Dreamweaver. A Web page file is Checked In when the person editing the file is done working on it locally, and wants to post the file to the Development area of the Web server so that it can be viewed at webwork.bc.edu:8080. Once you Check In a file, it is available to others on your team who may need to edit it. (See also: Check Out)

To add or return a document to an enhanced folder. Releases the editing reservation on a document, allowing others to open and edit the document. See also: check out, enhanced folder, check-in form

To store the content of an object in the docbase. Check in also unlocks the object in the docbase. If the object is one you just created, checking it in stores the working file in the docbase as the new object's content. If the object is one that already existed, checking it in can overwrite what is in the docbase or create a new version. Usually the person who checked the object out is the only person who can check it in.

The process by which copyright protected data is restored to the original LCM. Each check in increases the number of remaining check outs and invalidates the previous check out.

When you return material to the Check In desk, the material is marked "returned" on the computer.

1) In circulation: To return borrowed items and record that action in the item and patron records; 2) in the Serials/Electronic Resources Department: To receive an item on continuation (subscription) and update the check-in record to show receipt
