Collateralised Debt Obligations. These are bundles of bonds that are created and sold by the investment banks. The investment bank does not offer its own credit rating on the product, ie the investor takes the risk of the underlying securities. Offers investors a means of a diversified fixed income portfolio in markets or areas otherwise unavailable (eg emerging marker junk bonds).
