A projecting piece of timber or iron near the bow of vessel, to which the anchor is hoisted and secured.
Timbers jutting from the side of the ship above the hausehole. Used to help support the anchor.
n: a spool-shaped attachment on the end of the catshaft, around which rope for hoisting and moving heavy equipment on or near the rig floor is wound. See breakout cathead, makeup cathead.
