Candace is the title of ancient African empresses. The title was applied to the female rulers of the Kushite Empire, which was covered most of Africa, but had its capital cities along the Nile in what is now the Republic of Sudan. The word Candace is a latinized version of the African word kdke or Kandake or Kendake.
