Definitions for "Blalock-Taussig shunt"
An operation performed in cases of congenital pulmonary stenosis. An anastomosis is created between the aorta (or one of its branches, such as the subclavian artery) and one of the pulmonary arteries. This allows some of the blood from the systemic circulation to be shunted into the pulmonary circulation.
