Black Mountain is the highest point in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, USA, with a summit elevation of 4145 feet (1263 meters) above mean sea level with a top to bottom height of over 2,500 feet. It is located at in Harlan County near the border with Virginia, just above the town of Lynch. It is about 500 feet taller than any other mountain in Kentucky and is one of the tallest mountains in Appalachia outside the Blue Ridge Mountains region.
Black Mountain is situated close to the central business district of Australia's capital city Canberra. Like all major hills in Canberra it is protected from development by the Canberra Nature Park. It is covered in native bushland and is a haven to native wildlife.
Black Mountain is a mountain in the Black Mountains (not to be confused with the Black Mountain range of hills). It is the only Marilyn to fall exactly on the Welsh-English border, straddling Powys and Herefordshire.
