A ball washer is a piece of equipment for the cleaning of dirty golf balls. Because golf balls have a rough surface in contrast to other balls and are used primarily on grassy surfaces, they tend to collect dirt more easily, which can seriously affect their aerodynamic properties. Ball washers are almost always found on golf courses; on some courses, there is one at every hole.
