Selling non core activities. This occurs when a company concentrates on its core activities and sells parts of the business which are not central, hence, back to basics.
Commonly used term for a traditional educational program featuring "3 R's", basal readers, phonics, whole-group instruction, Core Knowledge curriculum, rote learning methods, strict discipline policies, etc.
Back to Basics was a failed attempt to relaunch the government of British Prime Minister John Major in 1993. Announced at the Party Conference of that year, the initiative was intended to focus on issues of law and order, education and public probity (especially "single mothers") after the debacle of Black Wednesday had destroyed the claims of the UK Conservative Party to safeguard public finance.
