in reincarnation (rebirth), although the personality of a person and their fleshy body are newly created every time at the point of conception, their essence is eternal.

The belief that one has lived before in another lifetime, and will live again when they die.

Some forms of Buddhism believe that after death a person's soul is reborn on earth in a different body, which may be human or another creature depending on the person's karma (see Karma); this is a belief shared by Buddhists
