A diagram symbolizing a system of interrelations of variable quantities using points represented by spots, or by lines to represent the relations of continuous variables. More than one set of interrelations may be presented on one graph, in which case the spots or lines are typically distinguishable from each other, as by color, shape, thickness, continuity, etc. A diagram in which relationships between variables are represented by other visual means is sometimes called a graph, as in a bar graph, but may also be called a chart.

simple graph consists of two sets: A set V of points called vertices or nodes. A set of pairs of vertices called edges or arcs that show which nodes are related. In a more informal way we can say that a graph is a set of nodes with links between them called edges or arcs. In a simple graph there's only one arc between two nodes. If there's more than one arc we call it a multigraph. If arcs can be followed in only one specific direction but not in the other we call it a directed graph or digraph and arcs become edges. If arcs begin and end in the same node making a loop, the resulting graph is called a pseudograph.  Despite a graph seeming a very elementary structure, there are many features of graphs whose study has lead to a complete mathematical theory. (For more information you can take a look at the graph glossary by Chris Caldwell or the introduction to graph theory of the wikipedia).  There are many ways to represent a graph. There are even complete congresses devoted to discussing how to do it; for example the International Symposium on Graph Drawing

A drawing representing the relationship between two sets of data, one set represented on a perpendicular scale or axis, the other on a horizontal scale or axis. The relationship is plotted where the two scales intersect, the line between meeting points generally being called the graph.

A curve or surface, the locus of a point whose coördinates are the variables in the equation of the locus; as, a graph of the exponential function.

Image having two coordinate directions. Three axis points define the scales in the two coordinate directions, and the location of the origin. Graphs have either points or curves
