Next Hop Resolution Protocol (protocole de résolution de sauts successifs)
NHRP was developed by the ROLC and is the protocol on which MPOA routing is based (it is now in its 12th draft).
NEXT HOP ROUTING PROTOCOL. A protocol being developed by the IETF that will add routing capabilitiesto Classical IP over ATM.
Next Hop Resolution Protocol. A protocol that makes it possible for a router's packet-forwarding function to be bypassed. NHRP is used to resolve the target ATM address when an MPOA shortcut route is established.
Next Hop Resolution Protocol. Protocol used by routers to dynamically discover the MAC address of other routers and hosts connected to a NBMA network. These systems can then directly communicate without requiring traffic to use an intermediate hop, increasing performance in ATM, Frame Relay, SMDS, and X.25 environments.
