To camp is to hide in an easily defended place with a powerful weapon picking off other players with impunity. One may also camp at a respawn point, for example to wait for re-appearance of a powerful weapon. Camping is a widely disapproved of behaviour in the on-line gaming community.
The act of remaining in an area to hunt a specific mob or a specific spawn, also the act of logging out of the game, introduced by Everquest, to setup camp.

To wait near a place a mob spawns in order to kill it. For very popular mobs or quest mobs, people or groups will have to queue up and wait their turn-- or kill steal.

To sit in one place waiting for a particular monster or type of monster to spawn. "Someone just killed X Creep, so I'm camping his spawn now."
Usually refers to a player's actions, not a place. Often used in shooters such as SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs, those who are 'camping' stay in one place waiting for enemies to come to them. It is often frowned upon because it makes for quite dull gameplay, although in some games, snipers are forgiven for camping. A 'camper' is someone who camps.
1. A pre determined area where a player or group of players may stay at and rest when they are fighting monsters. 2. The act of waiting in one place for a specific reason. One may camp an enemy's corpse so they can't be revived, or one may camp a monster spawn to earn a specific item.
