Antwerp pottery produced TIN-GLAZED EARTHENWARE in the 16thC and work inspired by Italian MAIOLICA in the latter part of the century. Its importance declined with the establishment of DELFT.

Antwerp's total population is ca. 461,496 (January 2006) and its total area is 204.51 kmÂ² with a population density of 2,257 inhabitants per kmÂ². The agglomeration has a population of about 800,000 (municipality: 461,496 (2006), metropolitan area: ca. 1,225,000).
