A region characterised in the barometric distribution by a system of closed isobars, having lowest pressure on the inside.
Sometimes called a low; an area of low pressure around which wind circulates in a clockwise direction in the Southern Hemisphere. (see also cyclone).
Relationship to Vitamin B-Complex Requirement"...926-9] Low levels of thiamin (B1) [Psychopharmacology (Berlin) 1997;129: pp..."
See low.
A low spot or the lowest spot in an area.
an air mass of lower pressure; often brings precipitation; "a low moved in over night bringing sleet and snow"
a low point in the ground or a sinkhole
a low point or a sinkhole, surrounded on all sides by higher ground (fig
an area of low pressure and is associated with unsettled weather
a smaller body of low pressure whose circulation is anticlockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere flowing towards a low pressure centre
A deep business cycle trough.
A medium to large weather system, characterised by significantly low pressures in the centre, high anticlockwise winds and often considerable and persistent rain.
A region of low barometric pressure. Usually applied to the early stage of development of a tropical cyclone.
A travelling low pressure region
A mass of air with low atmospheric pressure.
A low area in a field where surface drainage away from the area does not occur.
An atmospheric pressure system resulting in a falling barometer reading, as with a cyclone (see cyclonic).
An area of low atmospheric temperature.
a region of low atmospheric pressure that is usually accompanied by low clouds and precipitation.
a low place of any size on the Earth’s surface, also may refer to a sedimentary trough or basin.
A region of low pressure surrounded by a series of closed isobars.
Relationship to Manganese Requirement"Low blood manganese levels may accentuate depression..."
1. In general, a point or limited area of locally lower elevation in a particular surface. 2. In meteorology, an area of low pressure; a low or trough. This is usually applied to a certain stage in the development of a tropical cyclone, to migratory lows and troughs, and to upper-level lows and troughs that are only weakly developed. This use of the term is most common in the European literature. See V-shaped depression. 3. Same as depression angle See wet-bulb depression, dewpoint spread.
a low place or hollow on a plain surface. [AHDOS
A low-pressure weather system; a "low". Also called a cyclone.
In meteorology, it is another name for an area of low pressure, a low, or trough. It also applies to a stage of tropical cyclone development and is known as a tropical depression to distinguish it from other synoptic features.
