Any jewelry made from materials other than the noble metals (gold, silver & platinum). Costume jewelry can also be very expensive, especially when associated with a designer's name. Costume jewelry is usually trendy, in fashion, and often much bolder in shapes, materials, and size because of lower material costs.
jewelry that is not made with precious gems or metals.
fairly inexpensive jewelry, often of unusual materials or plated with metals, and sometimes containing artificial stones.
Jewelry made from inexpensive metals and imitation or semiprecious stones.
The term "Costume Jewelry" is a misnomer if there ever was one. First of all, many more people wear Costume Jewelry with everyday clothing, as opposed to wearing Costume Jewelry with a costume. The main point is though, that Costume Jewelry has finally outlived its reputation of appearing inexpensive looking. In fact very few people can tell the difference between the "real" and the quality Costume Jewelry available from Wish Pearl Jewelry. Of course much of Wish Pearl's Jewelry isn't Costume Jewelry. Let's face it. Nothing could be more authentic than a Pearl grown by a live Oyster.
Costume jewelry is jewelry that is made of less valuable materials, including base metals, glass, plastic, and synthetic stones, in place of more valuable materials such as precious metals and gems. These items are usually, but not always, inexpensive, and often flashy. Costume jewelry is mainly used for fashion purposes, opposed to "real" (precious) jewelery which may exist primary as collectibles, keepsakes, or investments.
