When a golfer picks up his/her ball before getting it in the hole. In stroke play this will mean that the golfer is disqualified and in match play this looses the golfer the hole.

To hit an opponent's blot to the bar.
To take up the ball before holing out. In stroke play, picking up incurs disqualification. In match play, it concedes the hole to the opponent.
