Riding backwards.

adjective A word used to signify the skater is going backwards. To clarify: the skater's board is moving backwards while the skater is standing in his standard position. Not to be confused with opposite-footed.

Riding the board backward. Considered a more difficult riding position for a wakeboarder. Can also use the term switchstance.

Skating backwards.

A prefix used for any trick done backwards, as in a "fakie 360".

A term from skateboarding that means riding the board in your normal riding position, but traveling the other direction. This can't really be done in wakeboarding since you can't change your foot position, so fakie is often interchanged with the term "Switchstance" in wakeboarding, which just means that the rider is riding the board with their opposite foot forward.

Riding backward without turning the body to face the direction of travel.

When a rider lands on a landing ramp backward, riding back down the ramp in reverse.
