The Mormon Church teaches two types of marriage. One ends at death. The other is for "time and eternity." People marry for many different reasons which may include: to publicly declare love and/or companionship; to legitimize sexual relations and procreation; to form a family unit; to strengthen social and economic stability; and to nurture and educate offspring.
