A powerful and fierce mackerel shark of the Atlantic and Pacific, of the family Lamidae.
A Corvette showcar.
The shortfin mako shark (Isurus oxyrinchus) has a conical snout and long gill slits. It is the fastest swimming fish. These sharks reproduce via aplacental viviparity (they bear live young but the babies are not nourished via a placenta in the womb; cannibalism often occurs within the womb). Makos can maintain a body temperature higher than that of the surrounding water.Order: Lamniformes.!-- google_ad_client = "pub-8040656654961143"; google_ad_width = 468; google_ad_height = 60; google_ad_format = "468x60_as"; google_ad_type = "text_image"; google_ad_channel =""; google_color_border = "003399"; google_color_bg = "003399"; google_color_link = "FFFFFF"; google_color_url = "FFFFFF"; google_color_text = "FFFFFF";
Fairly inexpensive fish with ivory-pink flesh that resembles swordfish in color and texture (but not in appearance). Other available shark includes dusky, black tip, silky, lemon, bull, tiger, or hammerhead shark.
The XP-755 Mako Shark show car was designed by Larry Shinoda under the direction of GM Design head Bill Mitchell in 1961, as a concept for future Chevrolet Corvettes. In keeping with the name, the streamlining, pointed snout, and other detailing was partly inspired by the look of that very fast fish. The "Mako Shark" was very similar to the 1963 Corvette, with some alterations.
