This is a procedure whereby a Defendant can have records of a charge removed from his or her criminal history if 1) acquitted following a trial, 2) convicted but later pardoned, 3) the indictment or information has been quashed and the statute of limitations has run, or 4) the Defendant has successfully completed deferred adjudication for a Class C misdemeanor. Except in limited circumstances, the Defendant is thereafter entitled to deny that he or she was ever arrested or even that there was ever an expunction.
