The "extra hand" that alternates between players. Each player is dealt six cards and discards two into the crib; therefore, each hand has four cards and so does each crib. The dealer always has the crib.

The Crib is made up of cards that players set aside at the beginning of each game. Players take turns "owning" the Crib. If the Crib contains cards that make scoring combinations, the points go to the Crib's current owner. The cards in the Crib are scored and shown to everyone during The Show.
