Simple multiplatform race game for up to 20 players
A single keno game. A term held over from when the game was called Horse Race Keno. Also may be a reference to the "race" to the keno counter to cash in a winning ticket before the next game starts (which normally voids all previous tickets).
When there is no further contact to be made in the game because the players' checkers have passed each other and it has become a dash to see who will get them home and bear them off first.
One round of keno game is called a Race

The object of the game is to race around the board and bear off all of your checkers. Backgammon essentially boils down to a race with various strategy to win the race thrown in.

After the checkers have passed each other and there is not contact between them it is now a race to see who will bring them home and bear them off first to win. This is also called a Racing Poisition.
A stage in the game where there is no longer any contact between opposing men and both players are racing to the finish.
