The Genesis spacecraft was the first ever attempt to collect a sample of solar wind, and the first "sample return mission" to return from beyond the orbit of the Moon. It was launched on August 8, 2001, and crash-landed on September 8, 2004 after a design flaw prevented the deployment of its drogue parachute. The crash contaminated many of the sample collectors, but subsequent processing was able to isolate useful samples, and as of April 2005 some of the mission's science objectives are expected to be achieved successfully.
Genesis (Tyler Dayspring) is a fictional character in the comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is a foe of Cable and Wolverine. He first appeared in a flashback in X-Force #1 (1991).
"Genesis" is the title of the first episode of the fourth season of the science fiction television show Sliders. Maggie and Quinn arrive on Earth Prime, which Rembrandt and Wade had already slid to, only to discover it has been conquered by the Kromaggs.

Genesis was a 4-part comic book event miniseries/crossover published by DC Comics, which had tie-ins with most of DC's ongoing series set in the DC Universe. The miniseries itself was published weekly in August 1997, written by John Byrne, with art by Ron Wagner and Joe Rubenstein.
"Genesis" is the pilot episode of the NBC supernatural drama series Heroes. It was directed by David Semel and written by Tim Kring.
Originally shown on Easter Sunday, 1989, the pilot was a two-hour movie simply known as "Quantum Leap." When the show returned for new episodes in September of that year, however, NBC aired a severely edited (90-minute) version of the pilot called "Genesis." Most of the footage was added back in for syndication reruns of the show; however, the title "Genesis" still airs before the episodes.
