Folder-like access point to a group of messages that have something in common

a special folder that automatically shows you a related set of files

Consists of a StarTeam folder hierarchy and the items associated with each folder in that hierarchy either frozen at a specific moment or time or starting from that moment in time and differentiating itself from its parent view afterwards. A StarTeam project and its root view are identical. Other views can start with a different StarTeam folder as its root, etc. The behavior of the view may or may not permit branching, may or may not be read only, and may be blank (having no apparent connection to the parent view—an empty subset of the parent view's contents).

In WebKF, Views provide the framework in which notes are organized. They are like folders, and can be thought of as topics, categories or areas of discussion. For example, a "Welcome" view can include several notes titled "Read this first", "Course Overview" and "Next Steps".
