God's will. Readings in the gurdwara often go by the name of Hukamnama, which translates as 'Royal order' – this is literally the direct decree of God as given to the Gurus and laid down in their writings in the Guru Granth Sahib and other texts.

The ordered will of God.
Literally "divine will." A decree by a high authority. Can also refer to a passage from the Guru Granth Sahib, selected by randomly opening the Sikh scripture during a daily ceremony. The passage is considered by Sikhs as the divine "command of the Guru" for the day.
Hukam is a Punjabi word derived from the Persianhukm, meaning "command" or "order." In Sikhism, it literally means "divine will." A Sikh accepts that everything in the Universe happens according to the Will of an all powerful God whose is referred to as Waheguru.
