One who proclaims monologues, or brings forth sermons or messages in relationship to the Bible. "How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?" (Rom. 10:14).

Preaching is but one function of ordained ministry in the Episcopal Church. A priest is a "preacher" when he or she delivers a sermon. Thus, a deacon, priest, or bishop may be the preacher at one particular service, but not at another. This term is not an appropriate form of address.
