The daily upslope winds commonly encountered in a mountain valley. See also Mountain Breeze. Also defined as, A wind blowing up the valley when the sun heats the mountain slopes above; a type of Anabatic Wind.
Local thermal circulation pattern found in areas of topographic relief. In this circulation system, surface winds blow from the valley bottom to areas of higher elevation during the daytime.
Daily upslope winds usually encountered in a mountain valley.
A wind that blows from the valley toward the higher elevations during the day. The mountain slopes warm more than the valley during the day due to more direct exposure to the sun. This produces lower pressure along the mountain slopes and thus the flow is from the higher pressure air in the valley toward the lower pressure air on the mountain slope.
Same as valley wind.
An anabatic wind, it is formed during the day by the heating of the valley floor. As the ground becomes warmer than the surrounding atmosphere, the lower levels of air heat and rise, flowing up the mountainsides. It blows in the opposite direction of a mountain breeze.
