A font in which all characters take up the same amount of horizontal space.

A font in which every character, including the space character, has equal width. In proportional-width fonts, letters such as i and j have less width than m or b. (The opposite of fixed is a proportional width font.)

A font whose characters are allotted the same amount of horizontal space, no matter the width of the character. Thus, the uppercase M receives the same amount of space as the letter l.

A font in which all characters have uniform widths.
