A looking forward to something for which it is known that it will take place. As the Bible uses the term, it is not the modern “Gee, wouldn’t it be nice if...” or “I wish that would happen.” The Bible uses it to refer to something (like our resurrection) which is sure to happen. For the Bible to say, “We hope in our resurrection,” means that we are looking forward with great anticipation to the resurrection we know we will have.

Hope is a belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life. Hope implies a certain amount of — i.e. believing that a positive outcome is possible even when there is some evidence to the contrary.
