Yichud in Halakha (Jewish religious laws) refer to forbidden seclusion between a man and a woman, who are not married to each other, in a closed room or a private area. This prohibition is to prevent the two from coming to sin.
("unification"): 1. See birur. 2. (pl. yichudim): A specific spiritual exercise of this nature. 3.The spiritual state associated with the sefirah of Da'at. For further explanation see: The Powers of the Soul-- Yichud.
