Definitions for "Windowing"
Use of a (usually) rectangular area to select part of a coverage for display, transformation, or analysis. The area selected may be compiled into a new coverage.
A software manipulation technique, using mathematical algorithms, to compensate for a teleradiology monitor's inability to provide the same contrast and bit depth as the original hardcopy X-ray. Pixel s within a certain range of bit-depth values are assigned the full range of possible grayscale values, while those outside that range are either white or black. This allows emphasis of contrast for those structures that lie within the grayscale "window". (Torbjørn Sund article, this issue)
Generic method of displaying data on screen, mimicking looking at several pieces of paper at once. Each window can be resized, moved and otherwise manipulated. It lies at the heart of making multiuser systems user-friendly and points the way for presetting tomorrow's applications.
Interlayer slippage or magnetic tape in roll form, resulting in buckling of some strands of tape. The tape will in many cases fold over itself causing permanent vertical creases in the tape. Also, if not fixed, will cause increased dropouts. See cinching.

Applying a plastic film to the back of a dome or die cut piece that provides a view of the product within the chipboard box.
is a technique to interpret 2 digit years. Based on a pivot date, the century can be interpreted. Example 00 - 49 = 2000 - 2049 and 50 - 99 = 1950 - 1999 In this example, the pivot date is 1/1/1950
