Definitions for "UV ink"
ink specially formulated to dry quickly with ultraviolet (UV) light while still on press. UV drying improves turnaround time because it eliminates waiting for the first side to dry before printing the second side. This eliminates the need for the paper to pass through the press more than once. see also dry trap, ink, wet trap
Concerns for quality, cost and the environment have spurred new technology in many industries. In the printing industry, UV inks that are environmentally friendly and add (good) ozone to our atmosphere are becoming more commonly used. These inks cure immediately upon contact with the UV light from the press dryers, providing a quality product ready to be delivered immediately. At BOPI, our Didde-VIP Web press uses these environmentally friendly inks.
