A clear, colorless filter that stops most ultraviolet rays from recording on film. Handy for shooting distant landscape shots, as it eliminates the bluish haze that might otherwise veil the picture.
Filter which may be used to absorb UV radiation, to reduce its effect. (see Ultraviolet)
A filter that has water pass through a chamber where it shoots UV light at the water to kill certain types of bacteria. submitted by Adrian
A filter designed to cut UV (ultraviolet) light. Also used as a lens protection filter.

A transparent material that absorbs light of certain wavelengths to modify the light that reaches sensitized material.
Material used to screen out ultraviolet (UV) rays from visible light. Ultraviolet radiation is potentially damaging to library, archival, and museum collections and is present more in sunlight and fluorescent light than in incandescent light. Removing UV radiation from storage and exhibition spaces reduces the rate of deterioration and prolongs the life of materials found there. Certain acrylic sheet materials have UV filtering properties as well.
Transparent filter that absorbs UV wavelengths. Used to help penetrate haze and give clearer video of distant views. Also used over a lens simply to protect the surface of the lens.
This is an UltraViolet absorbing filter that helps overcome the abundance of blue in outdoor photographs. Not really necessary in digital photography as the camera's white balance system adjusts for the colour temperature of the scene. We do use them to protect the camera's lens from scratching, fingerprints or dirt.
A material used to filter the ultraviolet rays out of visible light.
UV filters are used for general photography to reduce haziness or fogginess created by ultraviolet light.
