Trnava (, ) is a town in western Slovakia, 45 km to the northeast of Bratislava, on the Trnávka river, and at the main Bratislava-Žilina railway and Bratislava-Žilina limited-access motorway (D1) and at start of R1 motorroad. It is the capital of a kraj (Trnava Region) and of an okres (Trnava District). It was the seat of a Roman Catholic archbishopric (1541-1820 and then again since 1978).
