A triptych (pronounced "trip-tick," from the Greek tri- "three" + ptychē "fold") is a work of art (usually a panel painting) which is divided into three sections, or three carved panels which are hinged together. The central panel is the most important one, and this is flanked on either side by two lesser but related paintings. The whole is intended to be greater than the sum of the parts.
Triptych (1999) is The Tea Party's fifth full length studio album, and one of the most commercially successful of the band's career. Triptych sees the trio blending all three of the major influences found on their previous albums: the earthy rock of Splendor Solis (1993), the world music inspired arrangements of The Edges of Twilight (1995), and the industrial edge of Transmission (1997).
Triptych is a two-disc compilation by Texan hard rock band Bloodrock released under One Way Records in 2000. The material on the first disc consists of the 1972 album, Passage, and the first half of the 1973 album Whirlwind Tongues. The second disc consists of the last half of Whirlwind Tongues and unfinished material of the would-be 1974 album, which Capitol Records refused to release at the time due to Bloodrock's waning popularity.
