A trendsetter is an individual whose style, mannerisms, fashion, etc., set new precedents for cultural trends. Trendsetters are most often of the youth demographic. The term trendsetter may not be used necissarily to describe the creator of a trend, but rather as an informal alternate to the term early adopter.

Someone or thing that breaks a traditional mold or routine and gains a following because of it. iMac is an example of trendsetting in design , because office supplies come in the familiar colors and translucent packaging of the iMac.
