Transarc Corporation was a private Pittsburgh-based software company founded in 1989 by Alfred Spector, Dean Thompson, and Jeff Eppinger of Carnegie Mellon University. It commercialized the Andrew File System (AFS) that was originally developed at Carnegie Mellon.
