The number of potential customers passing an outdoor media display during a specific time period. Used by TAB to authenticate the potential exposure of outdoor media structures.
A record of the number of vehicles, people aboard vehicles or both that pass a given checkpoint during a given time period.
The estimated number of people who will see a sign in a given time period. Traffic count is most commonly associated with number of vehicles passing a location in a day.
The number of potential customers passing a display during a specific period of time
in out-of-home advertising, the total number of vehicles and pedestrians passing a particular poster location or any out-of-home advertising unit during a specified period of time; volume and direction of traffic going past an outdoor location at various times of the day; may refer to the number of potential customers or people who pass by a particular store display during a specified time period. See Daily Effective Circulation (DEC), hand count, official count, and counting station.
The recording of the vehicles and pedestrians passing a given point; used by TAB to authenticate the potential exposure of outdoor advertising structures.
The number of vehicles that travel a road each day. Traffic count is used to calculate DEC.
Recording the number of vehicles and pedestrians passing a given point to establish the Daily Effective Circulation (DEC).
Mechanical, digital or photographic means of quantifying the number and type of vehicles at a given location. Counts may be determined from raw base data (axle counts divided by two to give an estimation of passenger vehicles), or by more sophisticated means to quantify vehicle type (passenger, light truck, heavy truck, bus, etc.). Counts typically are performed for an identified peak period (AM – early/"rush hour" morning, PM – late/"rush hour" afternoon, other industry-determined period) or for a 24-hour period. 24-hour counts may be adjusted for weather, seasonal, and other factors to arrive at a representative annualized annual daily traffic count (AADT).
The recording of the vehicles and pedestrians passing a given point, usually in a day.
