Data is valuable and useful to analysts only if it represents organizational activities that are reasonably current. Timeliness is a function of the users' requirements for currency and is consistent with user expectations. Timeliness is usually measured by how soon the data is available after some distinctive end-of-period such as "two days after the close of the month." The act of getting the data to the users at the most opportune time.
