a fibrous joint in which articulating bones are LETTERed by dense fibrous tissue
an articulation in which adjacent bones are bound together by a ligament
fibrous joint where the bones are connected by an interosseous ligament, at which practically no movement can take place. (eg. tibiofibular syndesmosis).
A joint where the two bones are connected by an interosseous membrane or ligament.
Artificial ankylosis by fibrous connection
Fibrous joint in which bones are held closely together, but not touching, by collagenous fibers or interosseous ligaments. They are generally synarthroses (immovable joints), although, if thee is a small amount of movement, it is related to the distance between the bones as well as the flexibility of the fibrous connecting tissue. This limited movement adds strength to the joint.
A fibrous amphiarthrosis.
