smooth cordgrass (Spartina alterniflora). Low to tall, erect grass, 1-8 feet high. Habitat includes salt and brackish marshes (regularly and irregularly flooded zones). Spartina alterniflora is usually the only plant in the regularly flooded low marsh zone of salt and brackish marshes.
