genus of perennial tuberous herbs and shrubs of Central and South America

Sinningia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Gesneriaceae. There are about 65 species of tuberous perennial herbs, all occurring in Central America and South America, with the greatest concentration of species occurring in southern Brazil.
