This is a type of broadband connection designed to transmit radio signals directly to, and receive them directly from, telecommunications satellites. They have the advantage of operating in areas where terrestrial cable or wireless networks do not reach. A satellite receiver is required to operate these connections.
Satellite broadband is connectivity provided via a satellite in orbit. This is often extremely expensive and is a last resort for users in extremely remote areas.
Broadband connectivity supplied from by a small satellite dish mounted on or near your building. Two standard coaxial cables connect the satellite dish antenna to the satellite modem, which is connected to your PC through an ethernet (network) port.
Uses a satellite dish mounted to send and receive data from satellites that orbit above the Earth.
In locations where no other options are available, satellite broadband will provide a two-way link to the internet.
Wireless high-speed Internet service provided by satellites. Some satellite broadband connections are two-way-up and down. Others are one-way, with the satellite providing a high-speed downlink and then using a dial-up telephone connection or other land-based system for the uplink to the Internet. (See broadband, dial-up). close
Broadband connectivity supplied from a satellite located in geostationary orbit.
An internet connection via a satellite communications network. It is an ‘always-on' connection that is not dependent on cable or telephone lines.
