Salem is an Israeli doom/death metal band, pioneers of the Oriental metal movement.
Salem was formed in late 2001 by former members of As Friends Rust, and vocalist Adam D'Zurilla. In no time, the band had managed to get themselves to tour worldwide as well as the Warped Tour before even signing to a record label or having a release. In 2003 Fiddler Records (who had also signed other Warped Tour acts) signed them to a contract.
The town of Salem is the setting for the soap opera Days of our Lives. It is located in the Midwestern United States, though the state is never mentioned. Originally set in New England, the vague setting was moved to somewhere in the Midwest in the 1970s.
