An added sound with a musical pitch occurring during inspiration or expiration, heard on stethoscope examination of the chest, and caused by air passing through bronchi that are narrowed by inflammation, spasm of smooth muscle or presence of mucous in the bronchus.
Wheezes audible with the stethoscope, indicating narrowing of small airways in the lungs.
Coarse, low-pitched sounds associated with the presence of secretions or obstruction of larger airways in the lungs during inspiration and expiration.
