A tradename for leathercloth or imitation leather used in upholstery and bookbinding, it was listed in the 1915 Trademarks Journal as belonging to the British Leather-cloth Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (later Rexine Ltd.), Hyde, near Manchester. Rexine is formed by covering a woven cloth with several coatings of cellulose nitrate. The term is often used to describe the leather-cloth used for British and Australian bear pads from the 1930s to 1960s.
