Removable picture storage cards used in digital cameras. These solid-state memory cards include Smart Media, Compact Flash, xD, Memory Stick, and SD/MMC.
Some DV camcorders are now equipped with removable memory cards. These allow still images to be recorded to the card. The number of still images that can be recorded to the card varies, depending on the size of the card - 4MB, 8MB, 32MB and 64MB and the resolution of the digital stills captured by the camcorder.
Some camcorders allow you to record photos, as well as video. You can typically record these photos to the disc or hard disk drive that video is stored to, or to optional removable memory cards, such as Memory SticksĀ® or SD(tm) cards. See our Blank Media discussion for more info.
