Definitions for "Reader Spread"
A term used in page layout software to describe the pairing of pages on the computer display. Pages are grouped in numerical order as a reader would encounter them while reading: 2 paired with 3, 4 paired with 5, etc. This is contrasted to printer spreads which describe the pairings as they may occur on a printing press before the binding of the book.
A layout made in two-page spreads as readers would see them. For example, an 11 by 17 reader's spread of a 16-page manual would have pages 2 and 3 next to each other and so on.
A graphic arts term that refers to two consecutively numbered pages of a booklet that appear side-by-side to the reader. In page layout software, reader spreads appear in what the software calls Facing Pages view.
