Regional Coding Enhancement. RCE is an enhancement that some studios (Warner and Columbia mostly) have added to your disks to stop region 1 (R1) DVDs from playing on Region-free DVD players. Up to date, RCE does not affect Multi-region players, and there are some workarounds for Region-free players, but it all depends on the make and model of your code-free DVD player.
Region Code Enhanced. A newer, more advanced kind of region coding for DVD's. Some big studios use RCE on their major new releases. RCE disks will not play on players that are set for “region 0.” Fortunately, there are still ways around this. Some DVD players are “region selectable” as opposed to “region free.” Once the player is manually set to the appropriate region, the disk will play. Many recent R0 upgrades do this automatically, so you never have to worry about it. Also called “enhanced region coding.
egional oding nhancement allows the disc to detect if a player is region specific (as required by the CSS licensing agreement), or if it has been altered to be "region free" (i.e. region 0). If the player is "region free" the RCE will not allow the disc to be played. It will instead display a message on the television advising the consumer that the machine is not authorized to play the DVD in question.
Regional Coding Enhancement. An addition to standard DVD regional coding which will stop Region 1 discs from being playable on code-free players. See Regional Coding.
